After 1st July 2006, the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC came into force, to restrict the use of six hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. The RoHS Directive impacts the entire electronics industry. After this date all applicable products in the EU market must pass RoHS compliance.
WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive 2002/96/EC mandates the treatment, recovery and recycling of electric and electronic equipment. After 13th august 2006 all applicable products in the EU market must pass WEEE compliance and carry the "Wheelie Bin" sticker.
